Tenggarong Bridge Collapsed

One of the bridges of civic pride Tenggarong East Kalimantan, which is a bridge or bridges Tenggarong Kukar collapsed on Sunday (26/11-2011). At the time of the incident, the bridge was crowded activity of passing vehicles.

Until today (12.08.2011), many victims of that incident, a total of 21 people found the bodies, while one is still hospitalized and 18 others were reported missing. Losses due to the collapse of the bridge over the River Mahakam it until today is still being recorded.

Agency for Development and Application of Technology (BPPT) conducted a technology audit to Tenggarong bridge which collapsed. The team will record and take a sampling of the collapse of the bridge construction related to technology audit purposes.

"Since this is considered a technological disaster, we will collect data from the ruins of the bridge. The data will provide the results to reconstruct, look carefully what's going on with this bridge. Why is this bridge collapse, certainly from the technology (the structure). The results are obtained can be used as an ingredient recommendations to relevant agencies, "said Dr. Ir. Rev W Pandoe. M. Sc, Underwater Investigation Team Leader BPPT.
In addition to the underwater investigation team that has done scanning (mapping) there is also a team on the water (the structure) that is doing research existing condition of the bridge. The investigation team will identify underwater objects under the Mahakam river water using side scan sonar equipment, multi beam echosounder and other support tools such as flow gauges and GPS.
Under the existing condition of water is also not immune from inspection. Existing data will be studied and combined, and it just takes a long time not to analyze it. Furthermore, these combinations will be sent to the center and our team at headquarters will give the conclusion of what really happened with Bridge mammal.

Before the collapse of this bridge is one of the attractions of interest Kukar tourists. Bridge with a length of about 712 meters and a width of 9 feet is a liaison between the city and the city of Samarinda Tenggarong. At first glance, Tenggarong Bridge construction is similar to the "Golden Gate" in San Francisco, United States. From the bridge we could see the sights to a range of facilities including an outdoor stage that is often used for art and cultural performances both locally and nationally. Right next to the bridge, there is a small pond and fountain with colorful spotlights that at night produces a very beautiful color blend. Not far from the stage area many young children play skate board there.
