Russian Special Forces Used Austria Sniper Rifle

Special forces unit in the Union Army Airborne Russia, will use the Austrian-made rifles. A total of 30 sniper rifle, it has been delivered to the special forces unit.

This was conveyed by the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, Col. Alexander Kucherenko, in Moscow, Friday (12/09/2011), as quoted by RIA Novosti news agency.

Kucherenko said part of the rifle had been shipped in accordance with the contract signed in 2010, and there will be many more guns followed sent. He declined to say exactly how many orders the gun.

Kucherenko also did not mention details of the brand and type of gun in question, but
based on the specifications that he gave, most likely this is the rifle Austria Steyr-Mannlicher SSG-69 caliber 7.62 mm, with a magazine containing 10 bullets. This type of rifle has an effective range of up to 2,000 meters.
